Our Lodges sleep up to 4 guests, with a separate bedroom plus a sofa bed in the living room. Our Studio Lodges are about 60% of the size of a Lodge but still offer enough room for a couple to relax in comfort.
Our Lodges have a full kitchen; the Studio Lodges don’t have a kitchen (but do have a sink and fridge).
-
Unfortunately we do NOT accept bookings which are not paid in advance. We've sadly had too many occasions where guests have not shown up for their stay without paying in advance, leaving our lovely accommodation empty when we could have welcome other guests if we'd only known in advance.
It's for this reason that we have a strict policy of requiring payment in full before arrival. The payment deadline is 3 days before arrival if your accommodation doesn't have a hot tun, and 7 days before if it does.
-
No. All our Lodges have hot tubs, as do 4 of our 6 Studio Lodges.
It will be clear when you’re booking whether your mini Lodge has a hot tub! They’re priced differently too.
-
We’re proud to accept well behaved dogs in our Lodges and Studio Lodges and in the public areas of the Baiting House (except the main restaurant area). There is an additional charge of £15 per stay per dog for overnight doggie guests. See here
A complimentary water bowl and dogs biscuits are available in the bar.
-
The cancellation policy requires all amendments and cancellations to be finalised by 12 noon 7 days prior to the booked arrival date if you’re booking any accommodation with a hot tub or 3 days before if your accommodation doesn’t have a hot tub.
Any changes following this time will result in a 100% room charge being applied to your credit card.
We advise to take out holiday insurance if you wish to be protected against cancellation charges incurred if you have to cancel a reservation for any reason (including Covid 19) after the cancellation deadline shown above.

Check in is from 4pm onwards. Check out is by 10am. Charges may apply in the case of late check-out.
We do sometimes offer late checkout as an option when you make your booking – see if you’re offered it on our website.
We get lots of requests for early check in and late check out – we’re a small operation and on some days our team have only 5 hours to turn around 14 rooms and lodges, so PLEASE be understanding if we can’t accommodate your request!
-
We operate a strict no-smoking policy throughout the interior of the Baiting House and inside our rooms, Lodges and Mini Lodges. We make a charge of £100 for cleaning rooms where the no-smoking policy has been violated.
-
We have free Wi-Fi available throughout the Baiting House and in our rooms, Lodges and Mini Lodges. Mobile reception is a different matter – you will struggle to get a signal in most of the property. Make the most of the peace and quiet!
-
We understand that a certain amount of wear and tear is inevitable and this applies to the odd smashed glass or broken plate. However, if something does get damaged during your stay do let us know ASAP so that it can be fixed or replaced. We do reserve the right to charge for more serious damage and breakages such as incidents to carpets, furniture, electrical and kitchen equipment, broken windows etc.
-
Yes! The team can give you some great recommendations. We’ve got a selection of walks which set off from the Baiting House and take anything from 40 minutes to 3 hours to complete.
-
All our Lodges and Studio Lodges have fire pits available. You can pre-order wood for the fire pit when you book your accommodation. There's obviously a small charge for this.
-
No. We used to offer portable BBQs but our insurance company have told us we can’t do so in future. There’s nothing to stop you bringing your own BBQ, however.
-
Of course. As long as we have a credit card number on file, you can charge all your meals and drinks to your room and settle up when you check out.
-
For safety and hygiene reasons we cannot supply cots for infants. However you are welcome to bring your own travel cot with you, and you should have enough room in all of our rooms and Lodges apart from our small double room in the Baiting House itself, which is too small to accommodate a travel cot.

You can read our full terms and conditions for booking here.
These Terms & Conditions form a binding contract between you and us once you’ve made a booking, so it’s important that you understand them.

-
Yes, you can. We offer vouchers either for a monetary amount or for a specified number of nights’ accommodation. They can be used at any time of year. You can buy a voucher here or please contact us and we will process this for you.
-
If your voucher doesn’t cover the full cost of your stay then please make a booking as normal and pay the deposit asked of you. Just put a note of the voucher codes that you are looking to redeem in the comments section of your booking form and we’ll take care of the rest.
Alternatively just contact us to make a booking using a voucher.
-
All our accommodation offers either double or king sized beds and is suitable for 2 or more guests. For this reason we don’t offer a single occupancy rate. If you’re booking for a large group and want to occupy a number of rooms for single occupancy then contact us and we’ll see if we’re able to offer a discount.
-
Of course. We do offer the facility to book all 14 of our rooms, Lodges and Studio Lodges but you’ll need to book well in advance because we get pretty booked-up a year or so ahead! We can also offer you and your guests exclusive use of the Reading Room (our private dining area) or even of the whole of our restaurant.

We love living where we do. It’s peaceful and it’s a quieter pace of life but one of the downsides is that transport can be tricky!
We don’t have Uber and taxis are hard to come by. For this reason we are unable to book taxis in advance on behalf of guests, and certainly cannot take any responsibility for the availability or performance of local transport.
Here are the local taxi companies we recommend:
